Delphinium Highlander

Transplanting
Remove liner carefully from trays so as not to damage roots. Plant liner even with soil line. It is suggested to plant only 1ppp for 6” thru 2 gallon.

Container Sizes and Crop Times
6”/Gallon = 12-13 weeks*
8-inch/2 Gallon = 14-15 weeks*
*this timing is based on 72 cell liner planted in spring.

Media
Plant into a well-drained, moist medium with a slight acidic pH: 5.8-6.2.

Temperature
Ideal average daily growing temperature 64-66°F (18-19°C). Average night temperature 60-62°F (15.5-16.5°C).

Light
Delphiniums do not require supplemental lighting. Shading may be necessary during periods of high light or high temperature (50% shade cloth compound).

Water and Feed
Delphiniums should be grown using a well balanced calcium nitrate fertilizer. It is suggested to begin fertilization one week after transplant with 150 ppm continuing with weekly applications. If grown outside, additional fertilization may be necessary. Maintain an EC of 1.5 and pH of 5.8-6.2. It is important to keep a consistent, even level of moisture.

Growth Regulators
It is recommended to provide adequate spacing to control height. It is also suggested to apply Bonzi 10-20ppm approximately 3 weeks after transplant (once roots have reached bottom of pot). If additional control is needed, applying multiple sprays of Bonzi 10-20ppm is effective. Alternatively, one can opt to drench 1-2ppm Bonzi.

Flowering
Flowering will occur naturally in the spring approximately 12-14 weeks after transplant. Flowering can be delayed by reducing temperatures slightly.

Insects and Diseases
Aphids, whitefly, thrips, pythium, powdery mildew, botrytis.
