65th Anniversary of Van den Bos Flowerbulbs

Van den Bos 65 Years

This year Van den Bos Flowerbulbs marked its 65 year anniversary! To celebrate the occasion, customers and partners from around the world were invited to the company headquarters in Honselersdijk during Dutch Lily Days. While there, they enjoyed visits to test greenhouses with flowering lily varieties, the introduction of new products, and a party with dishes from around the world to highlight the company’s global presence.

Van den Bos 65 YearsIn celebrating 65 years, it was good to look back at the history of Van den Bos Flowerbulbs, which was started in 1947 by Jo van den Bos in Maasdijk. It became clear that throughout the history of Van den Bos, although many things have changed, innovation has always been a driving force for success. This innovation has taken Van den Bos to its current position: a leading production and trading company for lily, freesia and calla bulbs throughout the world. From offering the first refrigerated bulb transport truck, winning an energy prize for the first CHP installation in greenhouse farming, to pioneering bulb cultivation in Chile. Van den Bos has always been on the cutting edge of the bulb industry.

This tradition of innovation and customer-oriented solutions continues today under the management of Edwin van der Klugt, Frans van der Weiden, and Jos Barendse. They face the challenge of meeting the demands of an ever changing world market. With the introduction of pot lilies, pot freesias, and pot callas to anticipate the cut flower market shifting toward the pot flower market, Van den Bos has proved that it is up to the task. In the near future Van den Bos also plans to introduce new varieties of pot freesias, along with an improved assortment of the new product group, Roselily. While we’re proud of the accomplishments of the past, we believe our best days are still ahead of us.
