The world's largest Lily assortment will be on display in Holland which will be hosted by 15 of the largest Lily breeders and producers. Van den Bos Flowerbulbs (Mother company of Flamingo Holland Inc) is participating in this year's Dutch Lily Days event.
Van den Bos one of the largest Lily exporters, trading more than 200 million Lily bulbs worldwide. Van den Bos has locations in USA, Canada, Chile, Australia, and China. They are actively trading in 60 countries and have been serving its customers since the 1940s.
Each year breeders and producers of lilies showcase their varieties at the Keukenhof (Lily Parade) in the 
beginning of May. The problem that companies were having with the time of the event was that with a cool spring (or a later bulb harvest) the show was too early to have all varieties in bloom. This resulted in too green presentation of the flowers, in particular the Orientals and OT Hybrid. Since the Keukenhof is closing their doors on the third week of May for the season, a group of companies came up with the idea of having creating the Dutch Lily Days event at the end of May to showcase all the latest and greatest varieties in the market using their own facility.
Dutch Lily Days will become the premier event for anyone involved with Lilies. With 95% of the Lily varieties originating from Dutch breeding companies, breeders, flower growers, the wholesale and retail companies will be able to see what the latest trends and developments are. At Van den Bos, we have a test planting of more than 3,000 lot #'s of Lilies (more than 400 varieties are planted total).
The majority of the flowers are cut lily varieties but there will also be a full assortment of potted lilies on display. This is a great opportunity to see the strength and weaknesses of different lot #'s but also to compare varieties with one another in presentation, crop time, growing characteristics, etc. For the first time this year, Van den Bos will have a test planting of Calla varieties which will definitely be worthwhile in seeing.
